Summer so far...

It has been a hectic summer for Mike and I, we have been traveling back and forth between Calgary & Crofton in between weddings! We have been staying with friends while we are in Calgary, and it has been quite enjoyable so far... we get pretty "homesick" after a week or so of being away and are eager to get back home. On Friday we leave to Calgary again after being home for only two weeks, and I'm excited for our photo shoots/weddings but am also feeling like I don't want to leave! I can't explain how great it is to be on the west coast - I am in love with swimming! We have been going back and forth between Fuller Lake and the Cowichan River this last week.

Our friends Kim & Jamie (and baby Penny) are living in Crofton now too, and we are so thrilled to have them here. Kim and I have been the best of friends since grade 5! It has been great getting to know her adorable baby, she is so sweet and giggles all the time.

Our friends Ashley and Kevin (also known as SNAP videography!) are coming to visit us today - we are planning on going to Saltspring Island tomorrow!!! I LOVE visiting Saltspring, and haven't been able to get over that way since our camping trip back in March! We are excited to have our good friends come see why we moved out here, and maybe we could even convince them to think about moving here ;) Haha - I do indeed live in a dream world. I hope to convince ALL of our Calgary friends to move here!!

I haven't taken a whole lot of photos this summer outside of work, so I will just post all the randoms from our last visit to Calgary.

Thanks for checking in even though my blog has been untouched for SO long...

Hanging out at the poolside patio at Hotel Arts - we all have a connection with the Hotel in some way - even Mike who helped out with a few big events! We are all happy to be sitting and relaxing on the patio, we always said we would when we moved on from working there...

This is Christina - she was the bar manager at Raw Bar. She is a cocktail making genius. Like seriously - we're talking award winning, innovative and just overal a freaking genius. I love this girl!!

Nina, Me, and Stacy Stax - Stacy and I were shocked to find out that we BOTH grew up in Duncan and were working at the same spot in Calgary. We were two of three Duncan girls that worked there if you can believe it!

Caryn's working the 1 cent Vegas glasses (good find Nina!) and looking as cool as always... Do you love my reflection in her lense? Hehe...
Also a genius this one - she works at St Germain in the Hotel and is a fantastic designer/artist. I blogged about her here. Just love this girl - she also made my sisters wedding flower arrangements! They were spectacular... I blogged about My sis' wedding here. Alex is the beauty on the right - she, Nina, and I got up to lots of mischief when we worked together. Lots of fun!

Mike and Jason Wiens played hockey at Eau Claire with a bunch of people for a good cause - Five hole for food. Each person brought as many canned goods as they could get together to get in on the game. The person who brought the most weight in cans won a sweet prize! Yah husband!

We also attended a fundraiser at Ceilis pub in Calgary for our good friend Carina Wiens - She is going on a trip to Nicaragua for some outreach opportunities. Shan & I decided it was a good excuse to western it up a bit - since it was our one chance to get in on a stampede party. (We avoided Stampede for the most part - too crazy busy!) The Pancake breakfasts were SO awesome though! It was my first year ever experiencing Stampede breakfasts! Free hot cakes, sausage & eggs, starbucks coffee, coca cola products, concerts - awesome!! There are hundreds of them all over the city during the week of Stampede.

We snapped up this shot on the last day of our latest visit in Calgary. We were hired to document a 50th birthday party at Heritage Park. It was a ton of fun - the birthday boy arrived in a helicopter and was totally surprised. He had no idea his family and friends would all be waiting for his arrival. Heritage Park was an awesome venue! We loved when they opened up the old fashioned candy&icecream stores after dinner and the guests were allowed to help themselves to their hearts content. Our client was lovely and said we could do. Mmm... This is a timed shot that Mikey set up.

I hope that summer has been wonderful for everyone, I imagine that you will see a lot more blogging from me in the fall when things slow down.

~Ashley
